This philosophy has been the driving force behind the success of Sudbay Family Automotive. Starting with Jim Sudbay in the 1930's, the Sudbay family has, for four generations, served the people of Cape Ann and beyond. Jim's son, Donald, continued in his father's footsteps and eventually built the present General Motors dealership in 1965. Don and his wife, Phyllis, reside in Gloucester. His two sons, Don Jr. and David now own both Sudbay General Motors and Sudbay Chrysler. Early in their lives, Don Jr. and David learned the automobile business from the ground up. Their summer jobs at Sudbay Family Automotive taught them not only about the many facets of the automobile business, but also the importance of customer satisfaction. After graduating from the University of Vermont and the General Motors Institute, Don Jr. entered the business in 1974. By 1978, he was appointed General Manager. Don, his wife Jeannie, and their five children live in Rockport.
Upon graduating from the New Hampshire College in 1984, David joined the Sudbay Family Automotive team. His further education includes a degree from the National Automobile Dealers Candidate Academy. 1992 saw even further expansion for Sudbay Family Automotive, when a second dealership was purchased, carrying the full line of Chrysler products. David Sudbay was then appointed as General Manager.
Currently, five of Don Jr. & David's seven children are actively involved in the daily operations of Sudbay Family Automotive. Now in it's fourth generation, the Sudbay name has stood for Solid Value and Superb Service.
